Ahh, Kraft Dinner…the first food I learned to make on my own (assuming toast doesn’t count). White cheddar, sharp cheddar, extra creamy, egg noodles, three cheese, spirals, cheese & tomato…I’ve tried them all (and will never try the tomato again – it was gross). I usually buy a case of the original flavour when it’s on sale and then always keep a few boxes handy.

I ate this stuff a lot as a kid. And you know, I always thought it tasted better as leftovers reheated the next day. My mom used to cook the noodles allllmost to mush and add a lot of milk to the cheese powder so it turned out really soupy. Usually I cook it to just past the point of crunching and add maybe a teaspoon of butter (it calls for 3 tablespoons) and just a quick splash of milk (it calls for 1/4 cup!). It turns out as small, chewy noodles in a dry neon-orange coating…yeah, sounds appetizing, right? 

Anyway, it’s been a rough couple of days for me here – my cat had emergency surgery and is still in the animal hospital.

Sometimes it’s just one of those days, and the only thing you can think to make is a pot of KD with a glass of milk.
